In recent years, typhoons passing through Qingdao have caused certain damage to the spray polyurea exposure test site of Qingdao University of Technology. Let's look at this first that before typhoon Lekima landed in Qingdao this year, Professor Weibo Huang directed his team to make emergency plans and post-disaster reconstruction.
1、On the evening of August 10, Typhoon Lekima arrived at the sea off Qingdao, and the urban wind began to increase to level 8.Professor Huang led the teachers and students of the Institute to put down all the shelves to prevent typhoons from destroying shelves.At the same time, he lowered the water level of sea water and freshwater test ponds to the lowest level and stopped the outdoor reception work of the exposure test site.
2、On the morning of August 11, Professor Huang came to the school roof exposure test site in the rain, and checked the losses after the typhoon with teachers and students such as Mr. Ma and Dr. Zhang.They counted the number of shelves broken and bent, and notified the Logistics Department to arrange maintenance and reinforcement.

It is reported that the outdoor exposure test site of Qingdao University of Technology is the largest one in the world, to study the aging behavior of sprayed polyurea materials. Professor Huang is the first researcher in the world to study the aging behavior of spray polyurea. He has been working hard and devoting quietly in the field of spraying polyurea for decades, and has devoted his whole life to the spray polyurea career in China. He has provided the basic scientific basis for the research and development of high performance sprayed polyurea materials in China, who is honored with the reputation of "Polyurea Father in China".
In addition to carrying out scientific research and accumulating data, the outdoor exposure test site of Qingdao University of Technology has become a popular science area for popularizing the knowledge of spraying polyurea and identifying pure polyurea and hybrid. The polyurea exposure test site receives hundreds of visitors from home and abroad every year, both general and labourer. The site has become an important position for spreading polyurea knowledge.
For a long time, there have been a drastic debate in the field of spray polyurea in China: pure polyurea and hybrid. Although the scientific analysis of bond energy and molecular structure proves that pure polyurea is superior to hybrid, there are still some people who have published the fallacy that pure polyurea is not pure and hybrid is more suitable for China's national situation.
Since the scandal of a large number of hybrid in a high-speed railway protection project in 2009, Professor Huang is determined to find out the anti-aging rule of pure polyurea and hybrid through long-term outdoor exposure test and artificial accelerated aging test, and clarify the fallacy that pure polyurea is impure and hybrid is better.
There was no elevator in the No. 2 experimental building of Qingdao University of Technology, so he personally led graduate students to carry thousands of concrete blocks to the top of the fifth floor, totaling more than 5,000 kilograms. He designed and built stainless steel frames by himself which were suitable for holding polyurea materials. He sprayed a large number of pure polyurea and hybrid test samples. Through the observation, testing and research in the past ten years, it is proved that: 1. Pure polyurea can maintain more than 85% of its original mechanical properties;
2. The mechanical properties of hybrid only maintained in the initial 2 to 3 years, and then the performance decreased sharply, and rapidly degraded to waste residue.
Especially after this typhoon Lekima, visitors can find very intuitively: 1. Pure polyurea is still tough and powerful; 2. Hybrid has been completely destroyed without strength.
